Dedicated Hosting Description
When we talk about hosting servers, there are 3 major kinds - shared web hosting servers, VPS (virtual web servers) and dedicated hosting servers. Shared hosting servers accommodate a lot of customers and so the system resources per user account are restricted, virtual private server plans give you more server configuration independence, but also influence other VPSs on the hardware node if used rashly, and dedicated servers offer you the autonomy to perform everything you decide without messing with anyone else.
Why would you need a dedicated hosting server?
Dedicated servers are generally much more expensive than shared web hosting servers or VPSs. Why would anyone, then, use them? The answer is rather simple. If your corporation has a regularly visited site, or simply has very special server architecture requirements, the proper choice is a dedicated server. For someone who is ready to invest in safety and stability, the higher price is not a concern. You are bestowed with full root-level access and can utilize 100 percent of the dedicated hosting web server's system resources without anyone else using these system resources and meddling with your web pages.
Hardware architectures
The majority of web hosting firms, including us at World Hosting, offer several hardware configurations you can select from on the basis of your needs. The hardware architectures offer different kinds of microprocessors, a different number of cores, different RAM and server hard drive sizes and different monthly bandwidth usage quotas. You can select a web hosting CP, which is a convenient software tool if you would like to use the server for website hosting purposes solely and choose not to resort to a Secure Shell client for all the changes you will be making. We offer three sorts of hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.
The web hosting CP of your choice
If you are a confident Linux OS user (our dedicated hosting web servers are powered by Linux or other Unix-based OSs), you could administer your dedicated server through an SSH tunnel exclusively. That, however, could be inconvenient, especially if you want to grant full root-level access to someone else who has less technical expertise than yourself. That is why having web hosting CP software pre-activated is a fine idea. The Hepsia Control Panel software that we provide does not offer full server root privileges and is mainly appropriate for someone who maintains multiple web pages that consume plenty of system resources, but wants to manage the online portals, databases and email mailbox accounts through an easy-to-use Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel web hosting CPs, on the other hand, grant complete root access and have 3 access levels - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell hosting packages rather than using the web server only for yourself, you should choose one of these two.
Server monitoring and backup services
Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated hosting server and of backing it up. In the event of a problem with your dedicated server, such as a non-responsive Apache or an outage, it is desirable to have some sort of monitoring system activated. Here at World Hosting the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the separate services on the dedicated hosting server too. Backups are also an extra option - the hosting solutions provider offers you data backups on our own backup web servers. You could pick a kind of RAID that would allow you to have the same data on 2 hard disks as a precaution in case of a server hard disk drive failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted full server root privileges deletes something by accident.
